Drug charges require a strong criminal defense

The consequences for Pennsylvania drug charges are severe and should not be considered lightly. Drug charges can result in incarceration, as well as a criminal record that can threaten employment and education prospects for accused individuals. Accused individuals have important rights that they should be aware of and protect. These rights can include search and seizure rights, as well as others, and can form the basis of a criminal defense if violated.

Drug charges can include a variety of different types of charges for different alleged activities. Drug charges can include drug possession charges, including possession of heroin, cocaine or methamphetamine; marijuana charges; charges for illegally possessing prescription drugs such as Oxycontin, Suboxone or others; possession with intent to deliver or charges related to selling drugs; drug trafficking charges or charges for growing or manufacturing drugs.

In addition to search and seizure violations, it is also important that authorities not violate an accused individual's right not to incriminate themselves or their right to representation. If authorities have not followed proper procedures they are required to follow for the protection for accused individuals, it may be possible to challenge the evidence alleged against the accused individual and the charges they are facing.

A criminal defense strategy may be able to reduce charges or eliminate them altogether, depending on the circumstances and there are a variety of different options available that may also include drug court, among others. Potential penalties and consequences depend on the unique situation and circumstances of the accused individual so it is important for accused individuals to protect their rights and that they are familiar with their criminal defense options.
