College students in Pennsylvania charged with underage drinking

Criminal charges can have a serious impact on the lives of college students and anyone facing them. In a Pennsylvania community east of the Cranberry area, 56 college students were recently arrested for underage drinking. The students were arrested at a party of approximately several hundred party goers at two off-campus houses. Last year, increased enforcement of underage drinking violations was announced.

Police records reveal that arrests of students for alcohol-related crimes are up from the same period in 2016. Recently, university authorities have charged 16 students with underage drinking and city police have issued 11 citations. Underage drinking is one of the most common college student crimes college students may be charged with.

While underage drinking can be a concern, the potential consequences and penalties associated with criminal charges such as underage drinking can have a significant impact on a student's life. Accusations of underage drinking can impact a student's education, personal life and future professional life and may result in other potential consequences as well. Students may face a potential loss of freedom, fines and other negative consequences. When facing criminal charges such as underage drinking, it is important for accused individuals to be familiar with their criminal defense options.

Criminal defense options can help address alleged criminal allegations based on the facts and circumstances of the situation, the conduct of authorities and the rights of the accused individual. Accused individuals have important legal protections through the criminal justice system they should be aware of and should know how to exercise.
